FAQs

Who is eligible for this camp?

Any high school student who has an avid interest in singing is eligible. Entering 9th grade students through exiting 12th grade students are welcome. Every instructor will meet students “where they are” with regard to skill level, experience, and interest.

Do students live on campus or commute?

VAC offers both! Students who choose on-campus housing stay in University dorms, students who commute can have access to campus parking and are always invited to stay for evening activities.

What do we need to “bring” to camp?

1) You will be directed to a link to pay online, but payment needs to be completed BEFORE camp begins.

2) Sheet music (printed, hole-punched, and in a binder!) for two songs to work on with your instructors while at camp. Those two songs should preferably fall within the Art Song, Folk, Spiritual or Musical Theatre realms.

Are there refunds available?

Once you have submitted the fee there are no refunds available. Camp fees go to help compensate student counselors as well as fund future outreach events, special guests, and resources for students enrolled in the UL Vocal Arts degrees. Thank you for your support!

What is the residential option like?

The residential option is like a compressed version of living at college! You’ll get a roommate, perhaps even a suite to share with another duo, and have time during the day to head back to your dorm to recharge. Evening activities are planned by your amazing Residential Counselor, who also stays with you in the dorm as a mentor and supervisor. Meals are held in the state of the art Student Union - complete with coffee shop and bookstore.

What kind of activities are there in addition to singing and workshops?

You name it. Scavenger hunts, team games, karaoke parties, lots of time structured around community and snacking. Past evening activities have included swimming, walking downtown for ice cream, movie nights and more.
